Book Launch: „The Mechanism for Restituting Properties Abusively Taken by the Romanian Communist State” by Mădălina Berechet, Partner at Berechet Rusu Hiriț

At the end of September 2025, Mădălina Berechet, Partner at Berechet Rusu Hiriț, launched her book „The Mechanism for Restituting Properties Abusively Taken by the Romanian Communist State” during a conference held at the Faculty of Law, University of Bucharest.

The book, which is the author’s doctoral thesis, provides an in-depth analysis of the legal framework governing the restitution of properties seized by the communist regime. It examines the evolution of restitution laws, their interpretation in national and European case law, and the structural causes that have prevented the full completion of the restitution process.

By clarifying the relationship between domestic legislation, administrative practice, and the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights, the work offers valuable insights and proposes solutions of interest to legislators, practitioners, and investors concerned with the stability of property rights in Romania.
